I'm hooking up a DVD player to an LCD TV using the RGB composite video cable but the picture is red. When I unplug the red the picture turns gray. When I unplug the blue nothing happens. So the the green and blue are in it is gray.. shouldn't it be blue? Because when the green and red and it, the picture is red. So it's like the blue isn't even working. Could this be the case?

If so, is it the brand new cable I just bought that is broken, or the DVD player? Or the brand new TV? Should I return the cable and get another to make sure it's not the cable? That's what I'm planning on unless anyone has any input...

    Thanks!!

First it is analog component not composite.

Go into your DVD player settings and set for

    YPbPr (or "analog component")
    Progressive scan*

When properly set up, the Green cable carries luminance "Y". If just the green is connected, the picture will be monochrome.

The red and blue cables carry the color information Pr and Pb.

*If your DVD player doesn't support progressive scan, use "interlace". In this mode the HDTV needs to do the deinterlace.

Man I can't believe I didn't think about setting up the DVD player. Boy do I feel silly.
