    Hi,

I have 2 .avi DivX movies that were meant to be in the widescreen 16:9 or 2.35:1 ratio that have been incorrectly converted into the 4:3 ratio (Actors appear squished/elongated) how can I convert them into the correct aspect ratios. I tried MPEG4 Modifier several times, no luck. (BTW, it says the pixels are square).

I also have a a movie in .vob files that I'd like to correct the aspect ratio of. Suppose I'd need a different program for that.

Any advice on method of correction, which program to use?

    Many thanks, Nakul 610

There is some kind of AR flag in AVI, even if some (many? most?) players ignore it, and that may be your problem here.
VOBs (or more to the point MPG) also have AR flag - Try DVDPatcher.

  3. The Divx decoder doesn't support DAR. Use Xvid as your MPEG4 decoder and the DAR will work properly, even with Divx encoded files. Be sure to enbable DX50 decoding in Xvid.

Alternatively, you could change the AVI file's FourCC to XVID.
