Sorry if this has been asked before. I tried looking, but it's impossible to search for DV.

Whenever I try and convert a file to DV with FFMpegX, it starts, and the finishes instantly with the following error.

I have been able to convert this file to a DVD, and then use another program to convert from DVD to DV, but the whole point of going to DV is lossless compression, and converting it to another lossy in between just muddles the image even more.

    Thanks for your help.

DV uses lossy DCT (discrete cosine transform) intraframe compression at 25 Mbit/s for video, or 1/5 of uncompressed video. In transcoding from format X to DV you lose some quality; some compression artifacts and color accuracy.
