Hi, I have a Movie file (avi) which is over 900mb, I'd like to split it into 2 (or maybe more) parts so I can burn it onto a cd, so I got the guide from this site to do it using virtual dub but when I try to open any movie using virtualdug (including a wmv) I get an error message saying 'ASF files are not supported' , what does that mean, can some one help, or suggest another easy to use program to split the file? (I want to file to be able to play so I dont want to rar it or anything).

VirtualDub will open an AVI provided you have the necessary codec installed, but will not open wmv files, which is what the ASF error message is refering to.

If it's ASF/WMV, it's not AVI. Some later version of VirtualDubMod does WMV IIRC, but then again, wmv is a bitch trying to do anything with, besides watching.

Sorry, your quite right, I didnt read the instructions properly, I tried using the wmv files just to see if the program would work (as I was downloading the avi at the time) but it doesnt support them, sorry for that.
