Im in Ireland Europe and I had a region 1 dvd that I wanted to play so I changed the region twice. Then I decided I didn't want to change the region anymore as I only had 3 chances left. So I decided to try to play it using another player and I downloaded pcfriendly amongst others I'd found online.

Now I get an error message when I try to play any dvd in WMP it says:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a problem occurred with digital copyright protection"

Media Centre gives a blank screen and won't play any dvd movie.
Dell DVD player program gives a blank screen.

Now the only player that will play any dvd is Media Player Classic.

How can I get WMP and Media Centre to work again.
I've removed everything I downloaded like PCFriendly.
I've tried reinstalling WMP same problem

I've checked this forum for info on this but none of the solutions seem to work.
Is there any way I can revert back to what it was like before I messed it all up. Like I need to reinstall video codecs or something like that?
Would be really grateful for any pointers. Thanks.

If this is a simple problem due to multiple soft/hardware region changes then all you need to do is install something like DVD43 free in order to play any disc from any region. This effectively sits between your DVD disc and your PC and fools it into permitting playback even if you have changed soft/hardware too many times.

I've had PCFriendly mess up my computer in the past. I treat it like a virus now and avoid it. Usually deleting it and reinstalling the players works.

If all else fails, you might try a system restore to a point before you had the problems.

Thanks for this people, I'll try reinstalling the player, in future will use the Genie, that looks like what I was after.. I've tried reinstalling WMP and this didn't resolve it, I get the same error. Is a system restore the only option now or is there anything else I can reinstall?
