  1. The problem I have is I play a video file with one name and it plays parts of an entirely different video I have on the same drive but in bits and pieces and garbled. For example I play a video called "Fred.avi" and when I play it I get bits of pieces of "Ginger.Avi" all distorted.

I can understand a file not working due to not the right Codec but why it would play distorted parts of other videos on the drive makes no sense.

Any ideas what might be going wrong? Did these files get corrupt somewhow?

Sorry if this has been asked before but this is such a wierd situation I couldn't figure out the right words to use for a search.

This could be totally independant of the video.

Try running chkdsk on your hard drive. This could be crosslinked chains in your file - hard disk corruption, either in the video file or in the files you used to make the video.
