    Hello,

I have a .swf flash file that I am trying to convert to .mp4 so that I can use it on my iPod.

I am using ffmpegX 0.0.9x and my MacBook Pro. When I open the .swf with ffmpegX the "Source format" pane says the format is "unrecognized." If I try to transcode the video anyway it finishes in less than a second and gives me this "Process Information" when I click on the "i" in the blue circle:

FFmpeg version CVS, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard

Mac OSX universal build for ffmpegX
    libavutil version: 49.0.0
    libavcodec version: 51.9.0
    libavformat version: 50.4.0
[swf @ 0x5597b8]No media found in SWF
/Users/chadly/Desktop/I Work at Burger King.swf: I/O error occured
Usually that means that input file is truncated and/or corrupted.
I don't understand why ffmpegX can encode to flash but not from flash. Can anyone help me?

    thanks, c

I bet it said 'Unrecognized/No video/No audio' in the Summary window.

ffmpegX can encode to FLV, while not every SWF file contains (FLV) video. Your clip likely wasn't really video, but a background picture with a scripted quasi moving mouth.
You could try to capture it as real video with a tool like Snapz Pro X.
