hello all. i was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem i've been having. the encoder i normally use for avi to dvd is tmpgenc plus or xpress. i had a couple of vids that were not working with it, so i tried quenc. i found that it encoded extremely fast and the quality was good. i use dvdlab to author. the dvds work fine on my computer, but when i use them on my regular dvd player, i get an error message saying it is not ntsc. is there some kind of setting i am overlooking in quenc? i used an avisynth script to stretch the avi to ntsc dvd size. i tied this twice. the first time, i got an error message in dvdlab saying i had to use closed gop in the encoder, so i used forced closed gop in quenc. i did not get any error messages in dvdlab, but the dvd still does not play in the regular dvd player. please help. thanks!!

Drop one of the QuEnc encoded videos into Gspot 2.60 and see if the framerate is correct, 29.970 or 23.976. If it's 25fps, that's your problem. And you might look into HC encoder. It seems to be more popular than QuEnc at present.

We have some members that are more familiar with QuEnc and HC than me and they can likely give you better information.

    And welcome to our forums.
