    Hello,

I'm a new mac user and I have some questions. I'm using a Sony Handycam DCR -DVD91e that copy the scene directly on a DVD (with .VOB files). As there is no possibility to connect this sony with my mac, I try to find a solution to enable me to edit my private films....

Is there a mac program that enable the edition of .vob files? Is there a way to transfer the .vob files into another extension that will enable me to use IMOVIE to edit my film?

As you can see I'm totally lost and don't know what to do....

    Thanks already for you help

    Seb

If you want to edit in iMovie, then you have to convert your film to DV first. MPEG Streamclip, ffmpegX and DVDxDV should be able to do that.

    Hi Seb,

I had the same problem with my DVD camera!

Look at at a program called 'Cinematize 2' (there's also a Pro version). Put your dvd disc in, launch 'Cinematize' and you can extract your movie to a named folder of your chose, preferably a name that has some reference to your movie.
You will get two things within this folder. First will be .mov files named DVD Movie Segment 01.mov, then 02.mov,etc, and secondly, you will also find a folder named Audio Files within that same folder and these will be named DVD Movie Segment 01 Audio.aif. These are your sound files for each movie segment that has been captured. You can then edit these in either iMovie or Final Cut.

    Hope this helps!

Pixela make a product called Pixe VRF Browser EX that specifically is for this. You can read about it at www.pixela-1.com
