  1. Hi, I am trying to convert my CDs to ISO format. I have Nero 6 but it can only allow me to convert to nrg format, but not to iso format. I have also installed DVD Decryptor but it can only convert DVDs to ISO, it can't convert CDs to ISO.

Can anyone suggest a free software which I can use to convert my CDs to ISO format?

    Thanks!

daemon tools? Check the tools section on the left of the screen for more options.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

You missed the suggestion for isobuster - I think that was epicurius. Try it out.

And from memory there was a freeware utility that converted from most formats to iso ... just dont recall the name of it right now .

    Here's a couple :

    http://www.dubaron.com/cd2iso/

    http://www.softplatz.com/Soft/Audio-Multimedia/Video-Tools/29027.exe

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

    http://www.paehl-info.de/cdr/convertIso.php

Found the stupid thing ... http://cdmage.orcon.net.nz/frames.html

Do I know some ... more to poke that stick at ...

Or http://www.kvipu.com/CDCheck/ to rip them all to hd folder , and imgburn to iso ... bit more technical ...

Look again in Nero Burning Rom. When using Image Recorder when you go to burn/save from the drop down choose 'ISO'.

    Using version 6.

  12. Thanks to everybody for the help and advices. Thanks!

  13. Hi all,

I have been trying out all kinds of conversion tools like isobuster, ultraiso, and magiciso. I noticed that all of these tools are able to easily convert an audio CD into bin/cue format, but are unable to convert it to iso format.

The reason given by the error pop-up is that the cd is an audio cd or the cd is multi-session. I guess the only way is to first convert the audio cd to bin/cue format and then convert from bin/cue format to iso format.

I am not sure why is it this way but I am interested to know why it happen this way. Can anybody kindly explain this technical phenomenon to me? Thanks in advance!

  14. obvious question...why do you need it in ISO format versus the other flavors?

the easy answer is that iso is for data, and not audio. the cue file is required to tell the burner what mode to burn the files in. for more info search for the "red book" of cd standards. there are many modes of burning cds.

There are a bunch of "formats" for disc images. Some work better than others, depending upon what kind of data it is and how you're going to use it.

The 2 different kinds of disc images are "RAW" and "COOKED"

RAW contains 1. User data, 2. Error detection/correction codes, 3. Track and/or Session marking info (Lead in and program PQ data), and sometimes 4. Full R-W subcode data.

COOKED contains only 1. User data.

By nature, if you have a cooked image, you can't tell if it's multi-session or not, or which mode it's supposed to be burned in. There are of course some image formats that are hybrids, using cooked files and a meta-file to tell how to burn, as well as some variations of cooked files where the additional info has been appended.

CUE/BIN is a type of RAW format (the BIN is the image, the CUE is the meta-file)
ISO is usually a COOKED format, containing only the 2048 byte data found in Mode1 or Mode2Form1 discs. They are almost always single track/single session. ISOBuster and a few others do support multi-track/multi-session versions (exceptions).

***If you've got a multi-session audio disc, a CUE/BIN is the natural way to go. Converting again to ISO (or any variation) might lose the additional info needed to correctly interpret the image. Keep it as CUE/BIN. It can be viewed (unmounted) with ISOBuster, it can be mounted with DaemonTools, it can be burned with CDRWin/Fireburner. Why change it?

    Scott

  17. Thanks guys for the explanations. Greatly appreciated.

Open the CUE file with a text editor (notepad, etc). That's all it is anyway--text.

Copy/Paste what you've got (obfuscating any personal/intimate/incriminating data!)

It might have track types of "Audio" "WAVE" "BIN" "Mode1" Mode2Form1" etc. This will help you (or us) figure out what you can do with it.

    Scott

Note: it sounds like you've got a DVD image (by the size of it). But that's strange, because they don't usually come as CUE/BINs.

Might be easiest to just try a test burn with Decrypter or ImgBurn, just choose the BIN and see what happens.

    Cornucopia:

Thanks for your concern to my problem

i opened the cue file and i got this:

FILE "rammsstein_volkerball _ full dvd_ iso_ psychobob rocks !!!.bin" BINARY
    TRACK 01 MODE1/2048
    INDEX 01 00:00:00

And as u said before it is strange cuz due to all the searched ive done in the Internet about this thing i agree that cue/bin files are cd disk file type.

I try to change the extension from bin to iso but it didnt work

    Plz hlp
