One of the better landscape generators, great for creating DVD menu backgrounds, has just been upgraded - sort of. This is a technology preview release of Terragen 2. Available for Mac and Windows 32-bit, the core technology has been used in several motion pictures, including the rendered planets in Star Trek : Nemesis.

You can download it here : http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/tg2/tg2tp/index.html

  2. This is nice software that can create realistic looking landscapes in a short time. Development seems to have slowed down. I've been waiting years for them to just add tree models. I've used this software to make a beach/sand/ocean backdrop. You can also use scripts to make animation for motion backgrounds. On this page is the animation script generator.

btw...Nemesis is my least favorite Star Trek movie. The director ruined it as he didn't even know Star Trek. They need to let Jonathan Frakes direct again. He at least knows how to keep the feel of Star Trek in the film.

The scripts only work for the old version AFAIK. TG2 is a very new beast. It does now support x-frog trees, and Greenworks has supplied a set for free - the link is on the Terragen 2 download page
