Hi,
I have some MPEG2 videos which were shot in 16:9 format. I want to send them back to a minidv using my camcorder but I need to keep the 16:9 format. Which program can I use to send the footage to minidv without any compression and in 16:9 format. So that when I send the minidv to a friend he can re-capture and still have the 16:9 format?
Thanks,
Dirk

You can't do it without compression. You need to convert it to DV avi with the 16:9 flag set, then send it back to tape. I know Vegas can do this, but if you don't have it, then it is probably overkill to install it just for this exercise.
Virtualdub can save as DV, but can't set the 16:9 flag, from what I can see.
You could always send it to DV with the AR flag set to 4:3 - it doesn't actually change the image at all, and set the AR flag to 16:9 at the other end, either when editing or encoding.Read my blog here.
