I do have a Medion MD9090 Digital-cam . It uses miniDV casettes to store its recordings.

Included is DVC Mediaplayer2 software allowing you to view what's on the casette (using the cam-USB connectioncable to transfer the data to PC) but (as far as I know) it can only do this at the 'normal' speed, so it takes 60 minutes for a casette being very long.
Apart from that I don't like the userinterface of that programm and it has very limited possibilities (I think).

What (freeware) software exists transferring data faster and/or being "just better" in other aspects?

DV is always captured/transferred in real time. 10 min. of footage takes 10 min. to capture.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

WinDV is a good, free program to use.
