I would like some other options for converting DVD, AVI, etc to AMV format for a chinese pocket media player. The software that comes with player is flaky at best. Sometimes it works well but other times it doesn't work at all or only encodes part of the files. The software is MP3 player tools or AMV Convert v4.07, I've found, and tried older versions of this software but none of it works right. Sometimes it will convert some DVD (VOB) files other times only 10 minutes. Will sometimes convert files in Divx or Xvid form, but not always. Works best if files are converted to WMV, but not always. Video may convert to AMV but audio is junk yet sometimes it works fine. I have used this software (MP3 Player Tools/AMV Convert) on 3 different computers and the results slightly vary. Mostly it doesn't work very well no matter what. Is there some other way to convert files to AMV format that works better?

My daughter has a player that takes AMV files, and it will only take those produced by the software that comes with it. The software is not great, and doesn't like a lot of formats, however it will happily read Avisynth scripts, so I just use AVS to feed it whatever video I need.
