I've just bought some expensive 2nd hand orignial audio commentary CD's but they have some bad scratches

can anyone suggest a good CD ripper that will get as much of the original audio as possible without hanging for ages due to read errors? I don't mind the clicks you sometimes get due to scratches as I can remove those afterwards

Maybe they can be cleaned up before you rip them.

I read once about a trick with toothpaste that helps eliminate
    some scratches.

Also a cd rejouvenator (sp?) might clean them up if used lightly.

some of the scratches are right through the layer as you can see through if you hold them up to a light

If they're valuable to you maybe it wouldn't cost too much to have
them professionally transferred to files that you can work with.

nah I wouldn't go that far although these CD's (20 CD's in total) are close to $500 to buy new but I got them for a lot less

I'm sure I can salvage most of them as not all are scratched badly. Once I find a good ripping tool I should be able to get a decent backup copy I can use without my CD player struggling to read the bad CD's or risk damaging them any more
    .
I'd like something like ISOBuster that I've used in the past for damaged DVD's or will that also do CD's? (I best fire it up and check then )

    Isobuster is ripping it now

but it's come to a bad sector and giving me 4 options

    #1 Omit sector
    #2 Replace with all Zeroes
#3 Replace with User Data All Zeroes
    #4 Replace with Erroneous Sector

can anyone suggestion which option is best to use for an audio speech CD?

looks like I should be trying Exact Audio Copy after reading that thread but I'll let Isobuster finish this CD anyway
