This is a bit of an odd one; I have been doing a lot of conversion over the years- usually find the answers in this forum but this one has me lost.

I have been using both avisynth and Nero Recode2 for some time without any problems. However I have just come into a bit of a problem:

I have a video encoded as WMV (not my fault) I am converting it to mp4 via Recode2 to play on my ipod.

    Here is the problem

I can load the WMV into Recode2 without any problems and encode it to mp4 - fine works a treat, good quality and audio in sync.

However, I wanted to resize, crop, and trim out sections. As before I created an avisynth script. Tested the script as always in virtualdub - all ok. Loaded it into Recode2, no problems. Unfortunately when I view the outcome the sound slowly goes out of sync. I then tried to split out the audio from the video so they are two sep tracks. Use the Audiodub command in avisynth to combine - again no problems in virtualdub. Loaded into Recode2 and the outcome was again out of sync.

Any suggestions why the same file is going out of sync when loaded via an avisynth script. It has never happened before. Both the audio and video tracks are the same length. All I can think is that the audio has a variable compression - but then virtualdub would have warned about that.

Any comments please - or is it just a Recode2 thing.

    Thanks. eon

I have also sync problems with some wmvs and avisynth. I then use windows movie maker to convert the wmv to a dv-avi file.

I haven't found any other solution.

    Thanks for the reply.

Talk about a bit of a convoluted path. I really do hate wmv's

A late addition - just tried to take the movie in - if I output to DV-AVI the end file is going to be over 24GB! I have no idea how long that is going to take. I think I may just have to give it a miss - especially when the input file is only 800MB!

    There must be another alternative.

    Thanks. eon
