    I ordered Nero 6 Ultra about a week and a half ago from a small software company - what I got was Nero 7 Essentials (jacket says bundle with hardware only). I've never gotten any bundled-with-hardware software that was worth a damn and heard that all the bugs have not been worked out with Nero 7. Despite the fact that the company prices Essentials $12 more than Ultra, I'm feeling ripped off. I don't even want to crack the jacket seal and try it until I've gotten a better idea of what I have, in case I need to return it. Should I try the stuff or should I get to work trying to get my money back?

    I use Nero 6.6.13, but I would still use 5.5 if it would work with my newer burners. But I also only use Nero to burn and I would be happy to throw out all that other junk. JMO.

    The later versions of Nero 7 seem to be OK, but I'm not sure 'Essentials' has Nero Burning Rom, just Express. That may even be the free OEM version that comes with some burners.

    You might take a look here. They are selling the same apparent disc for $4.99US and it lists the contents: http://www.xpcgear.com/nero7burning.html

    And welcome to our forums.

    Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is and I sincerely doubt it has Nero Burning Rom, which is mostly what I'm interested in. Looks like they're pulling the old bait-and-switch;
    6x+ overprice the Nero 7 Essentials on their website to try to draw attention away from the rip off they're pulling when they substitute it for the 6 Ultra.
    If they give the slightest hesitation about refunding my money when I contact these guys tomorrow, I think I'll just take the money hit and sing my song on Reseller Ratings. People need to be warned about these pieces of crap.

    Thanks redwudz

    Bait-and-switch is really fraud. Furthermore, if that is OEM software (and it almost certainly is), then it is possibly a violation of Nero's licensing agreement to have sold that to you without hardware. You'd have to ask the Ahead people, but something to remind them of if they don't refund your money.

    Return it.

    If they do not issue a credit against your credit card, go through the credit card issuers charge-back procedure. If you didn't use a credit card shame on you.

    Essentials is only an OEM package.
