  1. If on your computer programmes just froze ie mouse pointer dose'nt move and you have to reboot every time it happens what would you say was causing this problem, a dodgy mouse or something else ?

  2. sounds like a crash to me. has this been hapening for a while. if it just started to do it. it might be a program that you recently installed. check that first. second i would probably run a scandisk and defrag my drive and see if that clears it up...

  3. It has been happening for over a week now mostly with programmes like DVD2AVI, Tmpgenc, Paint Shop Pro, Video Factory, etc; I have done a scandisk and defrag still the same.

    patsym1,

in my experience, it was my motherboard (on my 2nd pc) for a couple of weeks
I noticed that my mouse would act very strangely, like, ie, jumpy, or fly way accros
the screen, etc. Or, just stop working all-together! I thought it was my mouse, or
else a software glitch. ...till my keyboard started acting up also. Then, both mouse
AND keyboard would no longer work. Turned out it was my motherboard going on
me - course, it was about 5 or so years old, but I had it on like, 24/7 every day
for so many years. Anyways. . .

So, if you can't figure it out, and/or it turns out to be your motherboard, be very
careful of instaling a new one. You'll have to re-install windows from scratch!!

But, you may have a software or too that is just hanging on you, locking up your
WHOLE system, and not just your mouse. I thought I'd just share MY experience
with ya cause it sounds so close.
