So I want to rip convert a .mov of a south park promo that appears to be interlaced. It's ripped right off a DVD, 640x480 with a framerate of 23.98. Here is what the video looks like without deinterlacing (images of back to back frames . . . artifacts appear on some frames, not on others, which seems to be how interlacing usually looks):
If I deinterlace the video using the deinterlace checkbox on any of my video software, the video always comes out with the thin lines looking jagged, like this:
However, I've downloaded promos of south park where the lines are all clean, like this:
How can I accomplish this? Some kind of software on the Mac would be preferable. I use VisualHub, Quicktime Pro, and ffmpegx. I can get new software if I have to, or even boot into windows as a last resort. I just need a way to make beautiful copies of my south park promos without all these interlacing nightmares
I don't really care about the file, by the way, just that the lines are all clean.

Welcome!
If you would like mac video tool help post in the mac section. I'm moving this topic to our mac video section.
640x480 24 fps are usually not interlaced....it looks more like it's bad converted from a interlaced source. -
Well, I guess mac or windows would really be ok, whatever it takes to fix this!
All the video on the dvd is like that. Even the full length episodes.
