    Hello
This is the first time I use VirtualDubMod, the version is 1.5.10.
I have an AVI file, its size is almost 700 MB. I have an SRT file, it is the subtitle for the first file.
I want to merge them together so I will get one AVI file.
That's exactly what I did after reading this guide How to add permanent subtitle to a video with virtualdubmod
The problem is that I got an AVI file which its size is 778 MB. So unfortunately I can't burn it on one CD.
    The question is
How can I save the file in the AVI format with less space (between 650 and 700 MB) using VirtualDubMod?

    Thanks

You must set the video bitrate to get correct file size, see https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=316373&highlight=

You could also use avirecomp instead of virtualdub to add the subtitle. Easier to use and very easy to set the output file size.

Thank you, that was exactly what I was looking for
But the result's quality is worse than the original video. Can I fix that ?

No, you will lose some video quality if you add permanent subtitles. You can use higher bitrate but it means bigger file size then.
