I have Hauppauge 250 capture card with Win2000PVR to capture from analog camcorder to mpeg2. I am learning Pinnacle 10+ to Author, does a really beautiful job on my tests. I have been able figure everything out so far except I am hung on one thing that SHOULD be easy. How do I edit my clips? If I double-click on a clip in thumbnail view, the clip editor launches. The clip is auto-placed in the editor. Okay so far.
Now, in MY mind, I slide the two cursers on the Left and Right to the position of beginning of the edit, and end of the edit, and the part in the middle is what I want to delete. Am I right so far?
Okay, problem is, how do I delete it? I hit the Delete button, no good. Of course, that would be far too easy. I used the help files, and they tell me how to select, but not to delete and save. Can anyone who knows Pinnacle tell me how to edit out sections from the clips. I must be missing something. Thanks as always...

I believe you just select the part you want to keep and then just click off the edit section.
Give it a try using this method.
I too use Studio 10 but haven't used the edting part yet.

Thanks for the reply... okay, what if the part I want to delete is in the middle of the clip? How do I select the two parts on either side, if you follow my question?

For that you use the main screen, the screen you use to play the scene, and then you cut it right where you want it using the "blade" icon. You do not do this in the edit screen, you do it in the main screen with the player.

...you'll be "splitting" the scene into subscenes and then ofcourse, you delete the part you don't want.

Hey tmelo38, thanks, that did it. I know the other edit menu can be used, but I don't want to take the time to figure it out right now. Thanks a lot, that really helped.

Hey all, got another question for anyone with Pinnacle10 experience.
I want to use a WAV clip of music for the background music of my first Chapter clip, with the thumbnails of the chapter headers. Okay, importing a WAV file is no problem, Pinnacle did it beautifully and it plays. Pinnacle auto-places it throughout the entire movie as background music. I can shorten it to play & loop only on my chapter clip by sliding the control bar from the end up to the end of the clip. No problem, it plays fine.
Now the problem: when I shorten it the way I described above, Pinnacle is deleting the section of the clip that I slide the control bar button over. So in the DVD that I burn, only the first few seconds of the WAV file play, it cuts off in mid-measure, and starts from the beginning of the song again. Sounds kind of unprofessional.
Question: is there any way that I can "tell" Pinnacle to play the entire WAV file, but only in that one opening chapter clip? Thanks as always...
