    Italics:
    see http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/subrip.htm
"As you can see, Subrip also offers to mark a character as being bold, italic or underlined."

  7. Why do you have to OCR anyway? You can get the IDX/SUB files using VSRip or VobSub Configure (comes in the VobSub package), and then use them in your XviD. If you insist on doing the OCR and you can't get SubRip to work, you can always OCR using Sub Resynch (also in the VobSub package).

The last post worked but one other Problem My DVD is a Targa DRH-5400x

And it should be allowed to play .sub Files buts its not any ideas what the problem is.... i always plays .srt files perfectly.

I've tried removing the idx file that didn't work it plays well on BSplayer but not my DVD player. The customer care said it should play it

  9. Oh, you need them for a standalone. That changes things. There are 2 kinds of SUB files. There's the text based ones that have to be OCR'd, and there are the image based IDX/SUB files, identical to the ones on the DVD. Many standalone DVD/MPEG-4 players won't play the IDX/SUB.

Back to square one. Had I known this was for a standalone, as opposed to viewing on a computer, or for reencoding with the subs burned in, I wouldn't have suggested the IDX/SUB method. However, since you have them already, try opening them in Sub Resynch (comes included with VobSub) and OCRing to SRT format subs for the standalone.

The difference is that for computer playback, VobSub sub/idx is fine, and if it isn't, it's just a matter of installing DirectVobSub - for standalone it is not fine, since few standalone players support much besides .srt subtitles for AVI playback (and possibly some other flavor of text based subs).

The italic tags (like HTML) should work. However not all players support it (mine doesn't) but displays the tags instead. No italics for me..

Downgrade your subrip. I too had that problem with 1.50b4. Version 1.40 beta 3 works fine here.

My subtitles work but when ever i put a £ (pound sterling symbol) it comes out on the stand alone dvd player as û its views alright in the srt file as £ and also the bsplayer.

I might just use subrip 1.40b3. Is is just me or is everyone getting it download slow from http://zuggy.wz.cz/redir.php?co=18 website? if it just me can someone else upload it somewhere else for me like sendspace.
