  1. I have on file and with both Real and WMP can not play, claiming the format is not supported or file corrupt. Then when I use AVIcodec I have this:

    Video : 3.74 GB, 65000 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 1920*1080 (16:9), MPG1 = MPEG 1 (VCD), Supported

It seems ok so why two player can not play. Thanks

I expect you have a missing or corrupt codec. You can download and install the bad codec or try another player that has its own, such as MPC or VLC.

  3. I suspect the MPG1 decoder can't handle the 1920x1080 frame size. The one in Windows XP SP2 can handle that size but some older MPG1 decoders can't. Again, VLC or MPC should work -- although you may not get smooth playback.

  4. thanks for your answer. MPC DOES the work. Amazing as the file is so small and portable (no installation). So in fact the question I ahve now is that why Microsoft or Real can not do an equal good work or simply they are too streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetched.

Actually, MPC is based on microsofts media player (v6.4), updated with newer codecs and tweaks. You could achieve the same result using a newer mpeg1 codec in the current version of WMP.

The bigger question is why your widescreen HD file is mpeg1 and not mpeg2?
