FXhome's Christmas gift - amazing v1.2.0 update!
For a couple of months the FXhome team has been slaving away to bring you the best update to the software yet. Read below to find out exactly what you can look forward to then go and grab the update and make some great movies over the Christmas period!

Optimisation and multi-threaded speed increases
Cogz has made some remarkable speed improvements to our whole range of software. Lite, Pro and Studio products have received serious optimisations which result in some functions being up to 40 times faster. On top of these improvements the Pro and Studio products also get multi-threading support, which can result in some functions being up to 62 times faster under Windows and an incredible 145 times faster on the Mac!

This means that the general application speed has been vastly improved, with additional boosts to specifically optimised functions. I'm sure you'll join the rest of the FXhome team in being well impressed with Cogz's handy work!

Windows single-core
Examples: Pentium 3, Pentium 4, Pentium M, Athlon XP, Athlon 64, Core Solo
Optimised functions: 40 times faster
General use : 1.1 - 3.3 times faster

Windows dual-core - Pro and Studio software ONLY
Examples: Pentium 4 D, Core Duo, Core 2 Duo, Athlon 64 X2
Optimised functions: 62 times faster
General use: 1.8 to 6.3 times faster

Mac single-core
Examples: iMac G5, iMac G4, eMac G4, Mac Mini G4, PowerBook
Optimised functions: 79 times faster
General use: 1.4 to 4.0 times faster

Mac dual-core - Pro and Studio software ONLY
Examples: iMac Intel, PowerMac Dual G5, MacBook Pro, MacBook
Optimised functions: 145 times faster
General use: 2.3 to 10 times faster

The speed increases on the Mac are larger than those on the PC mainly because the Mac version was significantly slower than the PC version to begin with. So far we've not been able to test on any quad-core/quad-processor systems but we expect the results on these systems to be even more stunning and well ahead of the stats listed above!

Example projects
This is a great addition for new and seasoned users alike. We've added a small selection of example projects, which is sure to grow in future releases, to help users figure things out as quickly as possible. Simply click the new "Example projects" link on the introduction screen or select the option from the file menu. We hope you enjoy the first few included examples!

Enhanced grade object interface
The finishing touches have been added to the grade object interface. We've added an FXpreset browser to the grade objects and when you press the [i] icon on these FXpresets you'll see a quick preview of the FXpreset applied to the current frame of your project! This means that grade objects now work exactly like the standard effects engines.

Canvas resolution dialog
Often a point of much confusion to new users, we've now simplified the canvas quality feature with a new dialog that appears when you first install the program. The dialog provides a brief description of each canvas quality setting, making the whole program a little bit easier to understand!

VisionLab Studio - Three-Strip Process filter
Here's a brand new VisionLab-exclusive filter, suggested by FXpreset master and resident head of Mac beta testing, the great Axeman. Cogz had this fantastic filter up and running within three hours and Schwar had it implemented in the program two hours later - the new office is a magical place! The filter simulates the three-strip technicolor process from 1929.

Helpful quick links bar
To integrate the software better with the website and give you guys an easier route to our support systems you'll now find the Quick Links bar above the canvas! These links allow you to jump quickly into Live Chat, the Support Forums or the FXpreset Library. We look forward to meeting many more of you in the live chat and giving even better support!

Bug fixes
With more than 25 bug fixes, from better support for Korean and Japanese systems to rendering glitches, the new software should be the quickest and most stable yet. We really hope you enjoy it!
