I have a Panasonic DMR-ES20S stand alone recorder that I have recorded a television show in FR mode (about 67 minutes) on a FUJI DVD-R disc. I have finalized the disk and it plays fine on the Panasonic ES-20. When I try playing the disc on a computer (have tried 2, both Win xP one with SP1 the other SP2) with AVS DVD Player 2.2 and Intervideo player, I run into the same problem, the video will play for 2minutes and 46 second and then returns to the menu. Any thoughts or suggestions??

Does it work with any other standalone dvd players than your panasonic?

If you fast forward after 2:46 and play it on your computer, does it continue play as usual then?
Can you copy the entire dvd to your computer hd without any reading problem?
Does this happen with all panasonic burnt dvdrs? or just this one?

I have some new information. I copied the DVD to the hard drive and played on AVS DVD player, same problem. I looked at the directory structure and files within it, the VTS_01_1.vob is only about 200 meg, seemed too small. As it turns out, AVS and Intervideo were playing what they had, a 200 meg video, the "time" had nothing to do with it. I have no idea why this is, but the entire show will play 2 Panasonic machines, 1 sony machine and a Kawasaki portable DVD player, but NOT on the computer. I read through some more information on the board here and tried changing the record mode from FR mode to LP, recorded a show last night and sure enough the entire show plays on the computer! Bottom line, the computer software dosen't seem to like the FR mode for what ever reason (too high bit rate?).
Thanks again Baldrick, you got me haeded in the right direction
