    Hi,
I have recently burned some mpeg files to a dvd and attempted to play them with my player however i get the message 'codec not supported'. After opening them in GSpot it says under video codec: 4cc H264/x264 Name ITU H.26n STat - codec NOT installed.
They play fine on my pc but is there anyway people know of to upgrade my player perhaps through firmware so that it will play these files. I have never upgraded firmware on this unit but I am unsure of how to find out what firmware I currently have installed.
    Many thanks

  2. There are no set-top player that will play h.264 encoded video. You will have to convert to Xvid/Divx or MPEG2.

I suspect your files aren't really .MPG files. They are probably .AVI files that someone has renamed. See what GSpot says about the container.

yeah it was GSpot that gave me that initial information. I will rename them to avi's and then convet them to mpeg2 with mainconcept mpeg encoder, should that do the job?

  4. You should be able to convert to MPEG2 as long as you have all the required codecs.
