I have just tried to open an avi file with Virtual dub to join 2 together & got the following message
Virtual Dub has detected an improper audio coding of the source avi file plus a lot more. I recommends decompressing to wav then then recompressing.

Join with virtualdubmod instead, select no when it ask if you want to rewrite the header.

If it asks. You can also have it setup so it asks if you want to keep the header, in which case you get to press yes or enter.
