First, I'm an absolute novice. I have a Toshiba SD-R5372 DVD drive, using Nero Visionexpress 3, ATI TV Wonder Pro.

I'm trying to create a dvd of my son's wedding from a Hi8 cassette. I capture the video successfully to an mpg file, which I can view using WIN Media Player and others. Full color and sound.

I fire up Nero, add the video, create some slide shows from wedding pictures, create a menu, test the compilation and all looks good. I can create a VIDEO_TS folder on my hard drive and the compilation plays on the computer.

I have burned using both DVD-R and DVD+R and both give the same results: both will play back fine (full color and audio) on the computer. Both will playback in full color on a Toshiba SD-5980 DVD player, but no audio with the video. Both play in monochrome only and with no audio on a Toshiba SD-K620 DVD player.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks.

  2. Some US DVD players can only play AC3 and LPCM audio. You may be burning your DVDs with MP2 audio.

Also make sure you are burning an NTSC DVD, not a PAL DVD.

Both settings are on the Video Options dialog.

    Thanks for the response.

I am recording NTSC, and the audio format is set to "Automatic".

The audio choices are LPCM and Dolby Digital (AC-3) 2.0
