  1. I bought a Sharpe boxset off Ebay. When I tried to play it on my Liteon player (seen here >> CLICK THIS ) It said invalid disc. It plays on my PC with no problem. So the files are there... The boxset had this on the rear (See below)

Im in Liverpool UK and my DVD has been set to region Free. i would appreciate any help as to why this would not play. Please be gentle with me...... :P

  2. Invalid disc normally means that the player cannot recognise the DVD. If I understand correctly "Sharpe boxset " are commercial DVDs which should be in a format that is compatible to most DVD players. I'll try that on another desktop DVD player to see if it works. That will tell if the disc is bad or just incompatible with your Liteon.

  3. Hi-

Looks to me like you bought an NTSC DVD boxset and since you're in a PAL country, I guess your player can't play it. Since most PAL DVD players can play NTSC DVDs, if I were you, I'd try it in another player or 2 first. Perhaps yours is the minority with a player/TV set that can't play NTSC material. Being region free isn't enough.

I'd doubt that, since 99.9% of all PAL DVD players play NTSC discs no problem.
Is it genuine pressed DVDs, or is it a rip (on DVD-R)? I'd suspect much on sale on eBay is not the real thing...

  5. I have a few region 1 DVDs that refuse to play if the player is set to region free. I have to set the player back to region 1 to play them. I usually rip them and create region free backups.

Check for or simliar on the dvd box. The number is the region.

Or open the dvd with dvd decrypter and it will report the region.

And are you sure it's a commercial dvd box? Maybe home burnt on some crappy dvd media?

And please make your signature smaller....way tooooo big.
