There was a sudden power-off the other day due to a storm.
The computer boots up fine but there is no picture on the screen. So, I shut down the computer using the keyboard.
I tried to diagnose the problem myself and found out that when I disconnect the keyboard (PS/2) it boots up normally with normal display on the screen and everything works fine (no keyboard, of course).
Looks like some conflict with the keyboard.
Do you know what could be the problem, please?
    Thank you.

May be so, but that keyboard works fine in other PC.
I was interested in the cause of the problem. I mean: What a keyboard has to do with a black screen?

Not all keyboards are made the same ... as is the problem with all hardware .

Just like those usb to ps2 convertors for keyboards and mice ... some work , and others are plain crap ... and dont work with all keybaords / mice .

The difference between them is usually , one has proper earth , the other dosent .

Have you got the pc that had the problem running with another keyboard ... ps2 or usb .

Yes, I replaced the keyboard with another PS/2. Seems to be OK now.
I was puzzled because the old keyboard worked for a long time and keeps working in other PC (both XP but very different hardware configuration).
