Well not too bad for the WII huh?? I know I like mine.
Red Steel is pretty cool. One neat thing with the remote is when you hold a handheld gun like a pistol or an uzi - if you turn your hand sidewides the player in the game moves where you move! So if you tilt your hand to the right sideways it follows you and you can shoot at an any angle basically. Really slick controls for a fps.

This is no suprise at all. Since Wii is over half the price of a PS3. What parent do you know would be willing to buy a $600 gift for their child? not likely...
So Wii probably wins the holiday season simply for being the cheapest new console.
And Red Steel is said to suck. Because the third-party developer have not fully gotten a handle of the controls. So wii-mote use during play is hit&miss frustration.
The 1st party Nintendo titles which use the wii-mote are said to work perfectly though. -
I predicted it. I knew from the beginning the Wii was something special.
The Wii probably won't win this holiday season. According to the link, the 360 has sold more.
I don't really listen to those "reviewers". I was reading the COD3 and stopped about halfway through. They just would not stop comparing it to the 360 and kept saying the graphics were disappointing compared to it. You think? The Wii is half the price of a 360 and you expect it to be equal? What's even more messed up is that the PS3 version got a higher rating in the graphics department even though the "reviewer" admitted that it was not as good as the 360. So its alright to pay over $200 more and accept mediocrity but something that's half the price has to be on par?

Nope Red Steel is very good. I've only had a few mishaps. But I realized that was because my sensor bar was nudged off center on top of the tv. Once I straightened that out it works just fine.

Yeah...just happens to be a CHEAP something special.Originally Posted by Conquest10

the only reason the wii is outselling the ps3 is purely due to availability alone nothing else lol. we wont know the true king of gaming til the next year or two imo :/Wii clobbers PS3 in sales

negative. only availability. why do you think people are willing to pay $1000-$5000 on ebay? price didnt matter.Originally Posted by [url=https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=SUPER_1

Nontendo still has (unfathomable to me) a large following, and many people had already decided to wait for the Wii regardless. Even if the PS3 had been the same price, they would have bought the Wii simply for Mario and Zelda. I have never understood the attraction of these games, but for many they are gold and worth buying a mediocre and outdated system to play.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel about the Wii.Originally Posted by guns1inger

Nintendo has a huge following because most if not all 18-30 year olds today had a NES and Super NES (hell even a GameBoy) growing up. Graphics is not the be all end all in video games. Why can't people understand that? If you got a game that had the best graphics ever but gameplay worse than Custer's Revenge, how many times would you play it? Of course, you could always just turn it on and watch it and never actually play it. But that is not what it was made for.His name was MackemX

The controller is a novelty that will either wear thin quickly, or be copied by everyone else and be available on other platforms. It is the only innovative things about the Wii.
I agree that gameplay is more important than eye-candy, and I freely admit that many people find games like Zelda entertaining to play. However both the Gamecube and Wii were and are technologically behind the competition, and more limited going forward. Personally, I have never found the type of games Nintendo produces/licenses to be entertaining or particularly fun to play. They seem to be aimed at 12 year olds, which is about what the price range aims at anyway.
If I was going to buy a console, it would be either a 360 or a PS3, but for the moment, a PC plays all I need faster, better and more comfortably than any console.
As for the gameplay argument, yes, it is important, but you cannot seriously tell me pacman or space invaders compares in anyway to Half Life or F.E.A.R on either count.Read my blog here.

Great move.I'm thinking about getting one(have a 360) just cuz there cheap. Would never consider a PS3 as a second(for the price).
BTW where can I get one? -
GuestGuestI was getting graphic envy when I read the specs on the PS3. Glad to hear it doesnt live up in the reviews. Xbox was far superior to PS2.Originally Posted by Conquest10

Interesting info
http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4362&Itemid=2
476,000 Wii’s X $250 =$119,000,000.00
179,000 total ps3’s X $600 (if you used the expensive one)=$ 107,400,000.00
If they had 400,000 ps3's they still would have probably sold out
I want an xbox 360 though unles someone wants to give me a ps3
Here is an excerpt
New consoles PlayStation 3 and Wii launched November 17 and 19, respectively, making blips on a radar which was dominated by sales of the Nintendo DS.
The Wii sold 476,000 units for the month, while the shorter-in-supply PlayStation 3 sold 197,000 units. Sony was aiming to have 400,000 units available on launch day in the US.
The little DS juggernaut sold 918,000 units in November, bringing life-to-date US sales to 8.1 million units. The PS2 followed as the second-best selling piece of hardware for the month with 664,000 units sold. Third place was held by the never-say-die GameBoy Advance with 641,000 units.
Xbox 360 was next, with 511,000 units sold, bringing life-to-date US sales to 3.8 million units. The PSP followed with 412,000 sold during the month.
Frazier said she was “surprised” by the continued strong performance of the PS2 and GBA.
Total hardware sales came to $771 million, up 69 percent compared to last November. The amount was comprised of $519 million in console hardware (a 103 percent increase) and $252 million from portables (a 26 percent increase).
“As for console hardware sales, the biggest contributor in terms of units was clearly the PS2, but the 360 and the Wii contributed the most in dollar sales,” Frazier said. “The 360 accounted for about 26 percent of total hardware dollar sales.” -
Well only ZELDA is out right now. I still haven't found a firm release date for MARIO GALAXY. I will buy it when it comes out I just don't know when that is.Originally Posted by guns1inger
Very good point. My feeling is those that had SMS and the GENESIS probably went with the playstation or XBOX. But Nintendo devotees stay with Nintendo. I buy Nintendo systems just for the Mario and Zelda games.Originally Posted by yoda313

i started steering away from nintendo around the n64'ish period. it seemed like nintendo wanted to force down the publics throat what they felt was best for us :X but now it seems like they're back on track with being fun and innovative. the hardware in the wii is horribly out of date but its the games that count the most. hell the 360 is out of date now if you compare it to the ps3 lol.
im still sayin we wont know who is true king for awhile. and to compare what the systems sold by pure $ is kinda bleh because how much it takes to make those systems as of right now anyways. -
Well actually it seems like NINTENDO has the better research branch becuase from all reports they have the best profit margin for hardware of all three. Heck they ACTUALLY made money on the GAMECUBES. And I'm sure they will soon start making money on the WII.Originally Posted by glockjgDonatello - The Shredder? The ps2 still sold more units than the wii, ps3, and the xbox360 in November and its 6 years old
Since we are on the wii
I feel that a lot of the stuff on these websites are bogus but funny

I think all new consoles do take a lot of flak though ps3 and xbox360 alike
IF someone gave me a nintendo I would probably play it and have a good time
(but I probably wouldnt buy one)
Hope to get a 360 soon though -
I'll say this about it is definitely not a media hub. No audio cds, no dvds, no high def (480p though). So it can play mp3s, read jpgs and do .mov files off of sd memory cards so it is not totally incapable of multimedia but its not its main focus. If you want to buy a machine that will replace a lot of individual hardware components your much better off with a XBOX 360 as that apparently has excellent media capabilities - the PS3 is apparently headed in that direction as well.Originally Posted by ps2daddyDonatello - The Shredder? I definitely have to give it to nintendo for being innovative for the fact that you can play the old classics as downloads that you can save on your wii and the controller can be used in a interesting manner
-
well actually you have to use either a gamecube controller or the new "classic controller" for the wii to play the old games. Only the NES games can be played with the wiimote. You have to have a controller with the top left and right buttons and the four button layout of the snes to do it.
But it is really nice having them all in one and the gamecube backwards compatibility is awesome. I just wish they would release more classics faster for download.

having a video game system as a media center is kind of a joke anyways. i remember justifying paying alot of $$$ for the ps2 because it played dvd's. well that didnt last long because a few months later i ended up buying a dvd player anyways. i mean its getting closer and closer to where they are becoming a full media center but its not quite there yet. imo computer>console by fare as far as media center goes.

Have you ever had a modded xbox?
The original xbox modded and loaded up with xbox media center is a wonderful thing
It streams any video in hd without much effort and even if you never played any games I would think that it would be worth keeping a regular xbox just for the media center capabiites
I use it to watch tvs shows that I have downloaded to my mac or my pc and listen to my music from both computers with it
You can even pick one up for $100 used right now -
Oh, you better believe it will be ripped off. Remember the analog joystick and the rumble features introduced with the Nintendo 64? Now they're standard on every new system (except rumble on the ps3).Originally Posted by guns1inger
Its actually been already done. I've heard the PS3 has a very rudimentary version of this. Looks like Sony heard about the Wii remote and tried to rip it off. Its evident that it was a rip as the consequence of adding this meant that they had to get rid of the rumble, most likely they couldn't get it right and the rumble kept tricking the system. His name was MackemX

Aside from the few hundred crazies out there. the majority are NOT willing to pay THAT much for a PS3. And the average gamer would be hard pressed to afford the $600 price either.Originally Posted by glockjs
Little kids and or teenagers are out of the question too. No way is mom&dad gonna shell out that whopping $600 in most cases. -
yeah but you can tell that nintendo's motion controllers are well thought out vs ps3's being well half ass'ed

do you so easily forget ps2 and xbox's price tags at release? not to mention how much a true gamer would drop in computer hardware alone. price doesnt matter.Originally Posted by [url=https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=SUPER_1 -
I doubt sony and 360 would go that far to rip off the full control setup. As in Wii-mote/nunchuck stuff. Motion sensing probably, but the whole wiimote/chuck control scheme, will most likely stay on the Wii. Since its such an oddball gimmick of play, which is definitely not suited for all types of games.Originally Posted by Conquest10
Thats one thing that turns me off of the wii. The wiimote stuff might be neat, but the thought of ONLY being able to play in that fashion, and not be able to go back to a gamepad setup, is lousy.
Thus far NO game for the wii right now, uses the classic controller. Only the virtual console games do. For new Wii titles, the waggle style is the only way to play and that kinda SUCKS. Give gamers the option of going back to a gamepad if they want. -
PS2 and X-Box were $300 upon release. NOT $600. Price does matter, like it or not.Originally Posted by glockjs
