Probabaly because the input sources are analog, looks like it has a regular old NTSC tuner + RCA/S-Video inputs.

If you're looking to watch OTA tv on your PC you would be better served purchasing an ATSC tuner, provided you live in an area that is served OTA digital tv. As far as analog inputs, they're most likely never going to look that good.

What's crappy about it? Not clear? Funny horizontal lines when there's motion? Video noise? Blocky artifacts? Jerky? Something else?

  6. You need to describe exactly what you mean by "poor". There are many things that could be wrong and we can't see your monitor. Once again, is it:

Not clear? Funny horizontal lines when there's motion? Video noise? Blocky artifacts? Jerky? Too bright? Too dark? Funny colors? Upside down? Blurry trails?

How are you watching? On the computer monitor? A CRT monitor? An LDC monitor? Using your graphic cards TV out? To a standard definition TV? To a HDTV?

And what are you comparing to? Watching on a regular TV? A high definition TV? Are you using s-video to connect to a TV and not getting nice clear text on your desktop?
