Super dvd creator? are you making a vcd/svcd from the avi? or are you just gonna burn it as data on the cdr?

To cut avi click on EDIT in the menu here to the left or click on Tools and select Video editors(wmv/avi).

I've never heard of that program you're using, but I would suggest that if it doesn't allow you to manually set bitrates or alternatively have some sort of blanket "fit to 1 disc" mode then you're probably better off chucking it and trying something like Convertxtodvd. Or you could learn how to do things the manual way - see http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm for more info on this.
    If in doubt, Google it.

SUper DVD Creator only creates DVDs, VCDs and SVCDs. VCD has a limit of 74 minutes on a 650MB CD and 80 minutes on a 700MB CD. SVCD will fit about half that running time on the same size disc. DVD is the only format that will allow you to put it on a single disc.

You need to read the help files that came with it to work out how to tell it what size disc you are using so it splits automatically. I suspect at the moment it thinks you are targeting a DVD blank, which is big enough for it not to have to split.

It doesn't give me much confidence in a product when they put things like this in their FAQ

The resolution of DVD film is 720x80(NTSC)or720x76(PAL)
And people bitch about the black bars on 2.35:1 material !
