  1. I have several avi files which are part of the same movie. When i try to join them it says that the sampling rates (or something) are different...(but only just)....is there some way to force the joining or is there a utility i can use to make all the header information the same, so i can then join them?

    thx.

  2. It can certainly be done, but how much work it is to do depends on the files. Most problems occur with framerate. One file is 30 fps while another is 29.97 and VirtualDub won't allow them to join. Right-click on each of the two files and choose properties or view properties in mediaplayer.

If one file is out of whack just a bit, you can try doing a direct stream copy in VirtualDub and change the framerate. Changing it too much will throw off the audio sync, but a small change will work.

Open one of the files in VirtualDub and choose Direct Stream copy in both audio and video. In the video section choose framerate. Select CHANGE TO and enter the framerate so it matches your other part of the movie. Save the AVI. It'll make a quick dub in a couple minutes. Take a look and see if the audio is in sync and then try joining them in Virtualdub.

If that's not what the problem is, give more details about the properties of the files you're trying to join.
