I ordered from GetVCDs.com and had not trouble with them. I had trouble with US customs, but not GetVCDs.com. In fact, they offered to refund my money or reship it. I chose reship and it came in five days.
Sorry, Truman, but this was before I knew about VCDhelp.com and Eureka.

What kind of problems? Was it easily resolved?
And I did check eurekamovies and they dont have what I wanted, thus far getvcds.com is the only one who has them. -
I think he means that the U.S Customs seized them so getvcd's offered to either try again at getting them through customs or just refunding his money. Imported VCD's are a legal minefield in America but most of the time they will eventually come through.
-
Exactly, US Customs siezed the VCDs. They were eventually destroyed. Too bad too, they were "rare" so to speak from my point of view - Star Wars, and some Disney's not available here even on VHS.
Customs seized them thinking they were bootleg pirate copies. GetVCDs.com told me that US Customs was particularly picky lately requiring letters of trademark or something like that. They said that the studios rarely give these letters out and especially not to re-sellers. So all they could do was refund my money or reship. I chose reship and they arrived in five days. Apparently, US Customs only spot checks (thankfully).

You know you would think the customs would be a little more worried about drugs, terrorist weapons, dangerous contriban, but no they focus time on stopping movies,......thats a government operation for ya.
Hey, I was just thinking, all of us in the VCD community should seek out people that buy cuban cigars, we all have the same annoyance. -
I buy cuban cigars, they are legal everywhere except the u.s. (to my knowledge anyway). You Americans are missing out on some of the best.
-
Yeah they are legal everywhere else, its just america who has the rule againest it, for about thrity years now I think alot of good its done.
Thats where I was drawing the comparison, customs checks all things coming from cuba just for cigars and then destroy them, they still havent stopped the flow though, just the way they do for VCDs and DVDs out of asia. -
When I ordered the Star Wars Trilogy from Eurekamovies.com I got about 10 Pages of letters with them from Fox and Lucas Arts saying that these are official movies and that they are legal and blah blah blah.

The United States embargoes everything from Cuba -- cigars, sugar, citrus, Elian Gonzalez ... We also have embargoes against Iran, Iraq, the Sudan, the (former) Taliban-controlled areas of Afghanistan, etc etc. -

This is what *should* have been sent along with my Star Wars set from getVCDs.com. I am lucky it wasn't spot-checked the second time. I will probably go with Eurekamovies.com next time.
