  1. Hey all, new to the forum, and have a little problem, and I hope someone can help me out.
So I picked up an LCD tv yesterday. It's 32 inch and an LG. So everything works great with HD and much better picture quality and whatnot except the DVD player. The picture, for lack of a better descriptor, looks like broadcast television. Colors tend to bleed a little, and everything is not sharp and at all, basically, like I said, like broadcast television.
Now, I have tried different DVD players, with different types of hook-ups, component, s-video, HDMI, and even my xbox360 (which the games look great with, not the dvds). Frankly, I don't know what the problem is, as the DVDs look better on a standard tv with composite video cable. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, and good to be here.

Yep ... thats the problem with HDTV's .... standard dvd's look shite ... HDTV's are great for watching HD content but non HD content tends to look like crap .... however you should be able to find a setting in the menu's somewhere that turns off the HD and the tv will display standard resolutions .... use this setting when watching non HD content .... if your HDTV doesn't allow you to switch off the HD function then if i was you i would return it to the shop and get one that does...
