Audio out of sync when using ulead dvdws 2

My problem is that when I load up my movie in mpeg2 form, and then the audio in ac3, into ulead dvdws 2 the audio is ahead by about 7 secs, right from the start. I converted my movie from avi with virtualdub from 23fps to 25 and coverted to mpeg2 with TMPGenc. I extracted the audio and converted to the same frame rate with besweet. The time codes for both video and audio are the same ( I just play both in media player to check the times). But when I load them into dvdws theyre off. I have used the same method to convert several movies before with no problems, only recently has it been affecting all the movies I try to convert to dvd. Please help, this is driving me mad. cheers

A bit of a work around (aka Bodge!) but if the audio is a consistant 7 seconds ahead of the video right through the whole video, why not just add 7 seconds of silence in front of the audio?

I tried that but gave poor results. Could it be something to do with the original audio source being 5.1 and im converting to 2channel stereo? Or is it more likely that my dvdws2 is just going mad for some reason?
