    Hi,

I hope someone can help me with the following problem.

Basically, I'm able to play a video through the AV1 channel on my TV, but when I record something through the TV mode and then try to watch it through AV1 I get a blank screen.

    Here's my setup:

(Yellow cable) AV1 VIDEO OUT from VCR to AV1 VIDEO IN on TV
(White cable) AV1 AUDIO OUT from VCR to AV1 VIDEO IN on TV
    (Red cable) Doing nothing.

This is my mother's TV which is setup differently to mine (I have no problems recording on mine). My TV is setup through the VCR, i.e. the aerial is plugged into the IN port on the VCR, and the OUT port on the VCR connects to the IN port on the TV monitor via a cable. The yellow, white and red ports for video/audio are not used, and I do all my recording through the VCR remote control.

On my mother's TV the aerial plugs straight into the TV IN port, and the VCR is hooked up as mentioned above. To watch a video I hit the TV/AV button and I watch it through the AV1 channel using the VCR or the TV remote control. If I take a video that I have recorded something on on my TV, hit the record button while watching something in TV mode, and then play it back through AV1 mode, I get a blank screen during the section of tape that I just recorded on, but when I get to the section past that (which I recorded on my own TV/VCR previously) I'm able to watch it as per normal. If I then take the video and play it through my own TV/VCR, it's still blank in that section only. It seems to me that it's being recorded but not onto the video somehow.

    I hope this makes sense.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If the aerial is pluged straight into the TV, then the VCR has no input at all, correct?

If so, why would you record anything when you hit record on the VCR?

Or did you expect the TV-AV1 input port to suddenly reverse direction and feed the output back into the VCR?

I find your reply a little bit "smart". For the record, I figured the problem out soon after I posted my message yesterday.

Not that I'm taking sides...but your post was a bit confusing. And from your descritpion of how everything was connected, it sounded like a connection issue.

I was just waiting for your response to kschang to hopefully shed some more light on the problem before responding.

Glad you figured it out. And if you post here asking for help, please update your post when you solve the problem.
