My recorder has 2 inputs ( the one with the yellow, red and white cables -- what are that one called again?--)
but I have three things I need to record from.
What is the thing I can buy which could make this work. thanks.

The White and red are the audio. Yellow is the video. If the yellow one looks like the red and white ones, it called composite video. If the yellow one looks different, it's probably S-Video. Since you have three playback devices, you probably need something like this:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00008VSIQ/ref=pd_cp_e_title/103-1410417-7052617

This device can handle Composite video and S-Video.

    Good luck!

    Thanks E.
    that looks pretty good.

Unless someone knows better product, I may do it.

I guess it's called S video cable even if your are not using the "s" part, which is the black round thing right? for video.

I would be nice if you didn't even need select channel, if recorder could know automatically which unit the signal is coming from
