  1. I can no longer obtain Ritek G04's for my older burner which has a max 4X burn. Is there any brand decent 4X media left? Ritek makes a cheaper version of the G04 now is it any good?

As far as I'm aware, you should not have any problems using 8X or 16X media in a 4X burner - the worst that will happen is that it will still only burn them at 4X.
    If in doubt, Google it.

jimmalenko is correct. You can also find 4X Taiyo Yuden at many online stores, including supermediastore - it's sold as Value Line media. I've burned hundreds, typically up to 8X on a 16X burner. If you're feeling adventureous, upgrading to a newer burner is another way to go - most are available for under $40, and some are close to $30. The last burner that I bought was $32 shipped for a LiteOn with LightScribe at newegg.com. The only caveat: The newer ones don't appear to read bad discs as well as the older drives - I recently had to pull the old Panny LFD521 out to read a disc that refused to read to completion in any of my other drives - good thing that I installed it in an external enclosure LOL.
