    hey guys whats up?
    question.
im familiar with converting to dvd, but i am looking for a new method of doing this.
currently im using nerovision. i like it but am unsure of how good the reproduction of quality really as is. and also , i've read here that nero sucks for anything but burning.
what im trying to do is>
    1. join two xvids to make one xvid
    2. create chapters for this
    3. create an advanced menu with an xvid clip to play as the background
what software and tutorials would most beneficial to me?
thanks to everyone in advance for their responses.

What's your final format? If it's DVD, you could use ConvertXToDVD and make it simple.

Or you could encode each Xvid separately to MPEG-2 to with one of several different encoders. TMPGEnc is one of the easier encoders to use. If you want freeware, HC is good. Then after encoding to DVD compliant MPEG-2 video and audio, you need to convert that to the DVD format with an authoring program. TMPGEnc DVD Author is easy. For freeware, GUI for dvdauthor works well and will set up any type of menus you want. For the DVD format, look to the upper left for 'WHAT IS' DVD. <<<<<<

I wouldn't join your Xvids. That can cause sync problems. Your authoring program can do the 'joining' much easier and with less chance of sync problems.

Chapters and advanced menus are part of authoring. If you want a more advanced authoring program, look into DVD-Lab.

The tutorials you need depend on the software you want to use. Using the individual tools is the best way, but it requires a little more learning. If you look to the left for 'CONVERT' and 'AUTHOR' you will see most of our guides for those two operations.

If you are instead thinking of Xvid or 'AVI type' menus and chapters, that really doesn't exist. Only the newer Divx can do menus and chapters, and it is limited on what players can use them.

    And welcome to our forums.
