I live in the States, and am making a PAL DVD as a sort of a Christmas greeting for my family back home in Europe. However, some of my family members don't have DVD players though, so I'd like to copy the DVD's contents onto VHS for them. I have a multiformat VCR capable of recording in PAL. I was going to hook up the video out from the computer to the video in of the VCR, hit playback on the computer and record on the VCR. This should work, right?
My question is...will I be able to use a blank VHS tape bought here in America? Are the blank VHS tapes intended for recording with a VCR somehow technically different based on whether they are sold in America or in Europe. I thought maybe the only difference is how the video is stored on the tape, but that the tape itself is identical. But I'm not sure...

1.No it won't work because the videocard is set to NTSC,remove the videocard and look for a small switch and set it to PAL.If you don't have a switch on the videocard then you will have to get a multisystem DVD player.
2.Tapes are the same worldwide, the only differance is broadcast standard(eg NTSC,PAL).
