when i want to burn files to CD/DVD, it's not letting me do it anymore (Not the burner itself)

for example, when i highlight the files that i want to burn to disk, I right click & "Send To"

well the problem is for example the "E-DRIVE" &/Or "D-DRIVE" is not showing up. I have also tried pasting the files onto the drive i want to burn to, with the disk in there, but it not showing up either.

Also i have NERO and have tried burning with that, but that seem's to be paying up as well?

    Can anyone help ?

If the drives are not showing up in the system , then

1: Check drives show in bios
2: If not ... double check ... if they are on same cable ... make sure they are not both set to master or both set to slave ... best to set all drives in pc to cs ... simplifies any problems later when swapping drives about .

3: If not , replace ide cable , and recheck

Very rare should it be a weakness from psu ... very rare .

4: If no show ... replace units .
4a: If show in bios , it's ok

Drive's no show in windows :

This could be caused by file or registry corruption .

If xp , try the restore feature to return the system to it's original new install state .

(note , any programs installed after the chosen date will need to be uninstalled , then reinstalled as the exe's will be nulled)

If this fails , the only other suggestion would be to locate a known working drive from another system and see if it show's up

Should this exchange drive show up ... the problem is with those units ... replace them both .

Should this fail , it's a complete os reinstall , as the problem is too deep in the system for a simple , fast repair .

As stated above, the first step is to see if the drives are showing in the bios during bootup. If they aren't, then you have a cabling/hardware issue with the drives. If they are showing the bios and not in XP, then try removing the drive(s) and/or the IDE channel(s) within device manager and reboot.

you can't just right click a file and select 'send to' a dvd writer unless you are using packet writing software (cd/dvd rw's only) you need to use a burning app (nero etc) to burn disks .... i see you have nero installed ... what problems are you having using nero to burn
