I have a rather lengthy movie which will not fit on a single disc without poor quality. Is there a way to put it on 2 discs. I have ripit4me, fixvts, dvd shrink and imgburn. Sorry new at this. I did check some guides but only found dual layer. Any help would be appreciated..

you could re-author the movie only with shrink and cut it into 2 discs.

Dvdshrink should do it for you. However, if you have trouble, another software which will either compress a dvd-9 or split it into 2 dvd-5s is DVDFab Gold. Here's the info page: http://www.dvdfab.com/fab-compare.htm

This is trialware, available for 30 days free trial, by the same company who gives us the free DVDFab Decrypter. It has built-in anti-decryption software, and is updated regularly (for free, once you purchase the software). It's fast, simple, produces high quality compressions (or, of course, 100% quality when you split into 2 dvd-5s), and the only thing that defeats it seems to be badly scratched DVDs.

VOBBlanker will also allow you to get rid of all the parts you don't want, and split the video into 2 parts. First blank the 1st half, and then blank the 2nd half. It is very fast, relatively easy to use and control

  6. I was thinking of using VOBblanker too. But won't blanking the first half of the movie causes problem in the "start movie" and "go to chapter x" ? How do you deal with that ? Does fixVTS help ?

You are blanking out cells. So the cells are still whole, but some are blank (very short). Therefore you don't have to worry about changing any pointers, etc. You can also blank the crap at the beginning of the movie, and the names listed at the end of the movie. VOBBlanker creates smaller values than DVDShrink when blanking out portions of the movie.

I usually just blank out the other crap, and just use DVDShrink to shrink whats left of the movie. Shrink usually only has to shrink less than 20% which is still very good quality. I only split when the movie takes up most of the disc, and the Shrink quality is too poor.

VOBBlanker works really well with TV Episode DVDs or DVDs with both Standard and Widescreen versions, or with DVDs when you want to keep a lot of the extras. The extras can go on the 2nd DVD.

No. Did you even bother reading the VobBlanker guide to which I linked? To make everything play as smoothly as possible, you should do the optional stuff at the bottom.
