  1. Hi everyone,

I"d like to thank everyone who helped me with my Nero File Reallocation error. I just have a quick question. I have Windows XP and a BenQ DW 1655 DVD burner. I recorded some TV with my Panasonic DMes10s DVD recorder and finalized the DVDRW. The plan was to edit out he commercials with Video Redo, and then erase the DVDRW. But my drive doesn't recognize the disk. It says the disk is present but doesn't recognize the finalized files. I know that this DVDRW is correctly finalized because it plays on another player in my house. It just will not play in the computer. Is there anything I can do? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm running Service Pack 2 on Windows XP Thanks.

Try see if you can extract the files with isobuster. Or try on another dvd drive or computer.

  3. Hi all,

Thanks for all your suggestions. Well, I have downloaded and installed Ultra Iso and it still lists 0 files on the disk. I will try with isobuster. Any other ideas? I know that my Panasonic asks to format the disk once it is put in to the recorder. If you don't say yes, you will not be able to record on it. Could this be causing the problem? I am confused and a little perplexed because the dvd works fine in my Mom's DVD player which is quite old. Any other thoughts? Thanks a lot! I apprecaite your help.

IsoBuster Pro works. The free version will read the disk but won't extract from it.

  7. Hi all,

Isobuster says that there is one track on the disk, but will not even open the image. It lists how many bites it is. Any other ideas, or should I just buy some DVD+rws and see how they work? THanks for any info you can provide.

I'm wondering, what is IsoBuster showing you? Is there a "+" next to "track 01" on the left panel? If not, or even if there is, try this. Right click on "track 01" and select "find missing files and folders". There'll be a pop up about an "IBP image file". I select "no" and go get a cup of coffee, it'll take a few to run . When it's done, expand the tree view on the left and select the grey icon for "ifo", or the blue for "ext". The files should show up on the right. You can right click them and select "Extract". Pro version only, the free version will only read.

For recording, (I have a Panasonic es20) I've been using DVD-RAM. They've been a little less hastle (no finalizing), and the "vro" files seem about the same as "vob", at least for demuxing with DGIndex. On the other hand, finalized rw seems to be more like a regular dvd, though since I'm trimming out the ads, I don't really need that.

    Hope this was helpful.

  9. Hi,

Thanks for the tip about Isobuster. I have it scanning. But it doesn't appear that it found anything. Any other suggestions? I will wait until it's done scanning. I followed your instructions, maybe I'm doing something wrong? I'm not sure. Well, thanks. I will keep you updated. It's just a strange problems. Has anyone been able to play DVD+rws on their dvd burners? Thanks for all your help.

Sounds like you got the ball rolling. It does take a while to run, and it won't show anything until it finishes. If you cancel the process, you might see some file names, but they still won't be accesable. Better to let it go and see what happens.

I has the same idea as you - record to rw, copy for editing/authoring, recycle rw. When I started, I had two movies recorded - rw, same brand, both finalized disks. The first I got copied with RipIt4Me, no problem. The second... it took about a month of aggrevation to get me to spring for IsoBuster And it didn't compleatly work. There were 4 vob files on the disk. It couldn't get the first of the four, but got the others (bad disk?). I eventualy put it in my regular player and re-recorded it to DVD-RAM, then copied it. On a different occasion, I had an rw that I didn't want to finalize. IsoBuster had no problem with it.

I haven't been able to get the rw/ram disks to play on my computer, though it's not a problem for me as long as I can copy them.

Good luck, I'll watch for what happens.

  11. Hi again!

Thanks for all your help about the DVDRWs. Well, I had isobuster scan for an hour and it was still at 0 percent. Hmm, I have an unfinalized dvdrw, maybe I should try that with isobuster. I'm also thinking of trying some dvd+rws to see if I can correct this problem. But I don't want to keep spending money with no results. Do you think I should let isobuster have another go at my dvd? Thanks for all your help! it is much appreciated!

I'd try again, maybe after a restart, for a few minutes. If it doesn't get up to 1 or 2% by then, it's probably not going to do it. The disk I had a problem with I tried 3 or 4 times, got to 9% each time, then errors. Once it got past the errors it would read, but that particular vob, out of the 4, played back badly. As for the +rw, I don't think the Panasonic will use them. Mine doesn't, it won't even accknowledge the disk is in the drive. After wrestleing with it for a while, I settled on the ram disks. Where I don't need to play them in other regular players, they suit my needs fine. As for the -rw, I'm begining to believe that leaving them un-finalized may be the way to go. At least, so far, that has worked better, and if you need to play them in a different player you still have the option to finalize later. And I appriciate the $$$ issue. I use a lot of freeware tools, it took quite a bit to get me to buy IsoBuster Pro, but it did get me further along than anything else I tried.

    Again, hoping to be helpful.
