  1. My minidv was showing signs of dirty heads, distorted playback, color blocks in the playback. I bought a cleaning tape, and used it once but it still seems to be dirty. It says to clean it only once. Do you guys clean yours more than once in a row? I am begining to think its the tape I was using, because where the heads were dirty it made those teeth marks on the minidv tape.

Each Minidv tape cleaner can normally be used about 35-40 times. You are suppose to run one cycle of ten seconds, then do another cleaning. You might need to try 3 or 4 ten second cleanings back to back. Play for 10 seconds then stop for a few seconds and continue.. Once you reach the end of the cleaning tape your suppose to trash it. Good Luck..

if the tape shows wear marks throw it out it's toast. if the next tape gets those same marks also, the heads may be damaged. i've never used a cleaning tape even after hundreds of hours of recording and playback.

start with a high quality tape and always stick with the same brand.

  4. I have been using Sony tapes, and good grief I hope it isnt bad heads. It seems the two tapes I have been using have the teeth marks so hopefully its just because the heads were dirty, because those were the tapes I was using when it was dirty.

Get your camcorder to a good serviceman to clean heads and check your tape transport path. Can't be more then 30-40 bucks. Much better then guessing...
