I have an Insignia NS-8PDVDA portable DVD player. Currently, I can play DVDs and Audio CDs using this player but am not able to play VCDs in it.
Could anyone please let me know if there is any way that I can use this player to play VCDs?

If it won't support VCD, it's a small task reauthoring your VCDs to DVD - you'll be able to fit 6-7 VCD on one DVD5.
Rip mpg out of VCD with VCDGear. Author mpg as DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author.

The VCDs that I had tried are not made by me, I tried using branded VCDs. Is there any ways to add VCD playing option if this utility is not available in the player?

Unfortunately, portable players are notorious for having problems with VCD. It's a firmware issue, so you'll have to look for hacked firmware (which probably doesn't exist, but you need to look for this since it's your player) and then be brave enough to replace your firmware with the hacked one and hope it works. Most likely there is nothing you can do. You need to check this stuff PRIOR to buying. Caveat emptor.
