    Hi everybody,

I have an .avi file which plays fine on my computer, but doesn't have any sound when I play it on my DVD player (Sony NS32). So far I've never encountered any problems. The audio codec required is ac3. I can't find any info regarding supported codecs on the ns 32, but my first guess is this is the problem. I don't have any idea on how to test this hypothesis though.

Currently I'm burning the file as a video-cd. no idea what that will result in, but I'll post the results.

    Any help/hints/tips will be appreciated.

Checking the firmware was the first thing I tried. No results there. Thanks for the link though, that might come in handy in the future.

I just checked and I have other avi's with ac3 that do play with sound. I used gspot to check the codecs.

stereo. This is the full info I get from gspot:

name: ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc
    bitrate: 192 kb/s (96/ch, stereo) CBR
    Fs: 48000 Hz

edit: just checked all codec details with another file which plays correctly and it's identical. So, it doesn't seem to be a codec issue as far as i can tell.
