i have a Core 2 Duo E6400 based system and have not had any such trouble. post your complete specs, along with exactly what software and codecs you are using and let's see what's going on.

edit: also check to see if a log file is made and what it says.

  3. Cheers rats, i read your answer and sometning clicked, i checked my Xvid codec.

Just did a reinstall of the codec, then noticed that as soon as i clicked to finish,,,,,,,, it uninstalled itself. I have got another version, but seem to be a bit distrustful of it but saying that it worked ok,

Worrying in a way as it was a clean install for the new set up so can't think why the uninstall should start for the codec,

Anyway, i digress. Out of shear interest which codecs to do you install and where do you get them. I havn't had to post on here for many a year so the programme has given me many hours of untroubled use. I feel its something outside the programme,

I use no other programme just his to make my DVDs so really this is the only thing installed.

    Again thanks for the nudge.

i try not to install any codecs, what i do is use applications with the codecs built in. such applications include mencoder, mplayer, avidemux, vlc and a few others, this way i avoid codec hell and all the files i create are sure to work on any OS currently available, including Linux, BSD, OS X and Windows.

  5. i have a core 2 duo 6600 with 2gigs of ram and it works fine. only problem i have is the audio usually has a few high pitch split second sounds in almost every dvd I make with this program. i get three or four of them in every hour of video i make into dvd. i have this problem with my current pc and with my old athlon computer too so it's something to do with the program itself. i still use it cuz it's perfect otherwise. picture is great and very easy to use. just wish the audio thing would get ironed out. i tried ac3 and mpeg audio and no change.

Well you could disable multiple threads in the settings. Are you overclocking the cores?
