Guys, listen up.
Marantz has two new DVD players (DV4001 and DV6001) which have an option to unlock the region code to region 0.
Here's how the job needs to be done:
- Power on DVD
- Open Disc tray by pressing Open/Close button
- Press 9, 9, 9, 9, 0, on the original remote
- REGION 0 will be displayed in the left upper corner of the TV screen.
- Turn off DVD player
- Turn on DVD player
Good luck!

Do you know if this works for the VC6001 5 disc player as well? I was told they are basically the same, it uses the same circuitry as the DV6001, just with 5 disc capability. To try will not harm, but if anybody had tried it before it will be great....
thanks -

The VC6001 is indeed capable of multiregion and the same action can be done as with the DV6001 and DV4001. -
Thanks, indeed I got it, and it is already running like that, works like a charm...but for my surprise, another surprise, it has no disc exchange capability, if you are playing one you cna not exchange the rest, is that normal, my Sony has it and honestly I have never seen any that could not you allow to do it ....

hi,
i unlocked my dv6001 according to instructions, but something weird is happening: when connected via HDMI, it can show only region 1 and 0 disks at any resolution above 480p.all other regions can be played only at 480p, otherwise the screen is blank and there is no sound. is it just me? -
irakly - Welcome to the forums. I am sorry, but I don't know the answer to your question.
Generally we discourage people from digging up old threads and adding to them. This is called "grave robbing". We're also not real fond of people who change subjects in threads. This is "threadjacking". I will admit that your post is probably close enough to the original thread that I would not slap you down for this, but here is the problem you have. You don't have an issue with making this player region free. You have an issue with playback AFTER it was made region free. However, since you have tagged onto a thread whose title is about making this player region free and this player is not very common in the USA, people who might own this player and know something about your problem may not ever read your post since they will think it is about making the player region free and they already may know how to do that. You should have just made a new thread about your problem.
Note that we are not like those jackasses at the AVS forums where they flip out if you don't add to already existing threads. Here we'd actually prefer you to start a new thread rather than add to old ones.
